The Mimics
The Mimics is a four-part online series set in the Netherlands. It follows Emma, a South African girl struggling to survive in a world where you can no longer trust what you hear… or even what you see.
Inspired by multiple online horror trends and internet folklore such as skinwalkers and mimics, The Mimics tries to mix those online horror trends into a grounded, realistic setting in the Netherlands.
The world
Have you ever heard someone calling your name when you were completely alone? You call back, but no voice answers. That’s when you realize you were alone the entire time, and you start wondering if your mind is playing tricks on you.
But what if it isn’t?
What if something out there is calling back mimicking the voices of people you know and trust?
And what if those creatures stopped hiding?
Society as we know it fell apart fast once nobody could trust what they heard anymore. As mysterious killings spread with no clear enemy or explanation, survival becomes every person for themselves. The constant feeling of a predator lurking in dark corners, waiting to strike, blends with the uncanny emptiness of a country that was once crowded and alive.
